Social Work Response to Crisis, Trauma and Disaster: Implications on Curriculum Design for Social Service Administration
on 17 – 19 July 2014 in Sichuan, China

In response to the changes in the form of social work service organization, social work management ideals and methodology have tended to diversify and complicate. Together with the worsening of global ecological environment and the escalation of conflict in human society, social service faces bigger and inevitable challenges. We need to upgrade our knowledge of changes and risk in the environment, and learn to more effectively integrate and utilize resources and information, strengthening the service decision-making, planning, organizing, supervision, evaluating and innovating activities of the profession under both normal and emergency situations.

The titled conference is to be held in the form of plenary sessions and study workshops to introduce the organizing background and theoretical concepts of the social service administration course and relevant social work education programme settings and training materials. The conference aims to:
  • Discuss the forefront societal environment changes and service policy system;
  • Service management awareness of social work profession in normal, risk, emergency, crisis and disaster situations, and their integration of coping technique and social work course;
  • Facilitate dialogue about international and indigenous social work related to service management curriculum design.

To encourage the ASEAN participation, the organizer will offer a lump-sum allowance of USD400 subsidizing the cost of accommodation, transportation, meal, etc. to the participants from ASEAN*. Limited to 20 appropriate participants only. Please see the attached documents for details and the terms.
